The Nanaimo Regional General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) needs new bedside patient monitors. These monitors are an integral part of the equipment used by the dedicated ICU staff to ensure our loved ones receive the complex observation and care they require during this difficult time.
This spring, we are raising funds to purchase 7 of the latest, technically advanced monitors for the ICU. Many vital functions including heart rate, blood pressure and breathing rate are constantly monitored making this equipment essential for medical staff to immediately determine appropriate treatments, which can be life-saving.
With just 9 beds available, the ICU admits and cares for more than 470 patients every year. Replacing aging equipment is our commitment to maintaining excellence in care for patients at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
