Plunging into the waters of collective identity, Body Of Water is an accumulation of experience, questions, histories, debate through the body, performance, photography, film, digital exchange, ritual and dance.
The goal of the show is to celebrate our shared roots in this place we call home, to build community and inspire water stewardship through creativity with, around and in local waters, and to bring an outdoor experience of art making to our INdoor audience.
A new presentation was developed in Nanaimo, May 8 to 20 and presented OUTside by local participants who love water. It was directed by Calgary-based guest artist, Nicole Mion, Water ceremonialist, Danielea Castell, and dance artist, Genevieve Johnson from Nanaimo. The group explored our streams and rivers and chose brother Millstone River and mother ocean at Neck Point Park as the research, creation, and presentation venue and shared their explorations with the general public on May 20.
We are bringing that exquisite experience indoors with a goal to recreate the natural beauty and feeling of being outside near these water sources with a nature-based installation by artist Mark Roch.
